Those years shaped her understanding of what makes technology successful in the real world — people who believe in what they do and teams that move with purpose.
Today, she brings that same philosophy to CoreSync, where she leads a high-performing team of financial and technical experts who implement Sage Intacct across industries and continents. Maryke’s story starts far from the boardroom. She was raised in a small town called Trichardt — not Louis Trichardt, smaller — where everyone knew everyone and life moved at a slower pace. It was there that she learned the value of kindness, connection, and community. Those lessons have stayed with her through every stage of her journey.
“I think growing up in a small town taught me to care,” she says. “You notice people. You look out for them. You build trust, because that’s what makes things work.”
That same grounded empathy runs through her leadership today. Whether she’s meeting with clients, coaching her team, or charting strategy, she brings humanity to every conversation.
Family, Food and Finding Joy
Outside of work, Maryke is the definition of balance in motion. She is a proud wife to Carl Harris, mom to four incredible children, and fur-mom to a growing collection of pets. The latest addition to the family is Harry, a mischievous Golden Retriever who has yet to master potty training. “He’s adorable, he’s chaos, and he fits right in,” she laughs. “Luckily, with four kids and a few older furry mentors, he’s got plenty of help.”
Family is at the centre of her world. “They are my why,” she says. “They’re the reason I show up, push harder, and dream bigger.”
When she’s not working, Maryke is usually planning her next adventure. She’s a passionate foodie who finds joy in discovering flavours, places, and cultures that tell a story. “Every meal teaches you something. Every place reminds you to see life differently,” she says. “Travel and food keep me curious and grateful.”
